Why does passkey error 50162 happen?

Passkey error 50162 may appear on Android when Google Play services encounter an issue during passkey verification.

When Google Play fails to complete the verification process, it triggers error 50162. You can fix it by updating Google Play services or deleting the damaged passkey stored in your Google Password Manager.

How to fix passkey error 50162?

We recommend two solutions. Start with Method 1, and if the issue continues, follow Method 2 to remove the damaged passkey and recreate it.

Method 1: Update Google Play services

  1. Open Google Play services through this link.

  2. Select Remove updates and wait until the button changes to Update.

  3. Select Update and wait until the update completes.

  4. Restart your device (this step is important).

  5. Return to OKX and try passkey verification again.

  6. If the 50162 error still appears, continue with Method 2.

Method 2: Remove the damaged passkey from Google Password Manager

If Google Play services previously created a corrupted passkey, simply updating the app won't fix the issue. You must delete the damaged passkey in both the OKX app and your Google Password Manager.

How do I delete the damaged passkey in my OKX app?

  1. When the error message appears, select the option to delete the damaged passkey.

  2. You'll be asked to complete other security checks such as SMS or email verification before the passkey is removed from your OKX account.

  3. Once this is done, proceed to the next step: deleting the damaged passkey in your Google Password Manager.

Note:

  • Delete the same passkey in Google Password Manager is a very important step.

  1. To delete the same passkey in Google Password Manager, please go to the Google Play Store app.

  2. Select your profile icon and sign in to your Google account.

  3. Go to Security and sign-in.

    Go to Security & sign-in

  4. Open Google Password Manager.

    Go to Google Password Manager

  5. Find the passkey for OKX and delete it.

    • Important note: If you also use OKX Pay, and the OKX Pay passkey works normally, do not delete the passkey labeled "OKX Pay," otherwise you may not be able to use OKX Pay.

  6. Return to OKX app and use your account normally.

    • Optional: you can add or create a new passkey again after the deletion.
